Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have my hearing checked?
Hearing loss tends to develop slowly over time. This is why it can be tricky to even realise you are experiencing it. This is why we strongly suggest you have your hearing checked every couple of years once you get into your forties. Doing this will ensure you can catch it early.
At Northwich Hearing Centre, we can arrange free hearing screening. We also do more comprehensive hearing and communication assessments so you can stay on top of your hearing health.
How much do hearing aids cost?
Buying a hearing aid isn’t just about the device itself. You need to take into account the expertise of the audiologist and the advanced testing. Our hearing aids range from £695 to £1,995 per aid.
Additionally our packages include a five year warranty, batteries, and unlimited aftercare sessions and free earwax removal. We can also provide a 12-month interest free payment scheme.
The right solution is based on your hearing requirements, lifestyle, and budget. The most appropriate hearing solution for you may not always be the premium range.
How long does a hearing test take?
Between 60-90 minutes is typical for our full hearing and communication assessment. This includes talking to you about your specific needs, as well as performing the tests. We can also demonstrate and recommended solutions if necessary.
Do you have a trial period and returns?
Indeed we do. We have a 30-day trial period for new hearing systems. If you don’t get the results you were hoping for we’ll work with you to find a better solution. If none can be found we simply refund your payment as long as you are within the trial period.
What does the manufacturer’s warranty cover?
The manufacturer’s warranty covers repairs due to faults for up to four years from fitting. However, it doesn’t cover accidental damage or loss, which we recommend insuring through your household contents insurance.
Charging boxes come with a two year warranty which also covers repairs due to faults. Just like the hearing aids, it does not cover accidental damage or loss, which we recommend insuring through your household contents insurance as per your hearing aids.
Can you fix my NHS hearing aid?
We can try and help you with this, but we don’t usually deal with NHS hearing aids.
Can you do home visits?
Yes. We charge £100 for a hearing test at your home. If you are house-bound and need regular visits, we charge a fee of £40.00 per visit.
I got my hearing aids from someone else. Can you look after them for me?
If you have documentation showing that the prescription is yours and from a qualified audiologist, then yes, we can.
We will have to do a full hearing assessment to update the results. Using those results we can apply alterations to the existing hearing aids where necessary. We will also carry out a full clean and check plus follow up any alterations two weeks later. This service costs £195.00 for approximately 2 ½ – 3 hours of consultation time.
